Top 10 Tips for Beginners

1

Start with Short Words

Don't try to find the longest words immediately. Start with shorter, common words (3-4 letters) to build your chain and get familiar with the board layout. Once you have a chain going, you can look for longer words to extend it.

2

Plan Your Path

Before committing to a word, look ahead to see if you can chain it to other words. Planning your path helps maximize your score and ensures you're using moves efficiently. A well-planned chain can complete multiple objectives at once.

3

Save Your Moves

Each level has a limited number of moves. Use them wisely and avoid wasting moves on words that don't help complete your objectives. If a word doesn't contribute to your goals, skip it and look for something more useful.

4

Look in All Directions

Words can be found horizontally, vertically, diagonally, and even backwards. Don't just scan left to right—check every direction. Some of the best words are hidden in diagonal patterns.

5

Chain Words Strategically

The key to high scores is word chaining. Start your next word from any letter in your previous word to create a continuous chain. Longer chains earn more coins and help you complete objectives faster.

6

Prioritize Objectives

Always check what objectives you need to complete before starting. Focus on words that help you achieve those goals first. Don't waste moves on random words if you need to find specific letters or clear obstacles.

7

Use Power-Ups Wisely

Don't use power-ups on easy levels. Save them for challenging puzzles where they'll make the biggest difference. Learn more in our power-ups guide.

8

Look for Common Patterns

English has common letter combinations like "ING", "ED", "ER", "TH", etc. Look for these patterns on the board—they often lead to multiple word possibilities.

9

Replay Levels for Stars

If you only got 1 or 2 stars on a level, replay it to improve your rating. This helps you unlock chapters faster and earn more coins. You'll also get better at word chaining with practice.

10

Take Your Time

There's no time limit on levels, so take your time to plan your moves. Rushing leads to mistakes and wasted moves. A few seconds of planning can save you from restarting a level.

Advanced Strategies

Word Chaining Optimization

The most efficient strategy is to create one long chain that touches multiple objectives. Plan your path to collect required letters, clear obstacles, and find keys all in one continuous chain. This maximizes your move efficiency.

Star Rating Strategies

To earn 3 stars, you need maximum moves remaining. This means completing objectives as efficiently as possible. Sometimes it's better to use a power-up early to ensure efficiency rather than struggling and using more moves.

Coin Management

Build up a coin reserve early by focusing on longer words. Once you have 50-100 coins saved, you'll have flexibility to use power-ups when needed. Don't spend coins immediately—save them for emergencies.

Obstacle Navigation

When obstacles block your path, look for alternative routes. Sometimes you can chain words around obstacles, or use a Bullet power-up to clear a single blocking tile. Plan your path to minimize obstacle interference.

Power-Up Efficiency Guide

Using power-ups efficiently can make the difference between success and failure. Here's when each power-up is most effective:

  • Cards (Shuffle): Use early in a level if you're struggling, not as a last resort. It's cheap enough to experiment with, and a fresh board layout might reveal words you couldn't see before.
  • Bullet (Pistol): Most cost-effective when you know exactly what's blocking you. If one tile is preventing word chaining, remove it rather than shuffling the whole board.
  • Glasses Basic (Hint): Perfect when you're close to finding words but need a nudge. Use it before spending on the full reveal—you might find the word with just the hint.
  • Glasses (Reveal): Save for truly desperate situations. It's expensive, so make sure you've tried other options first. The revealed word is usually long, which can help offset the cost with coin earnings.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Wasting Moves on Random Words: Don't just find words for the sake of it. Every move should contribute to completing your objectives.
  • Ignoring Objectives: Always check what you need to complete before starting. Focusing on the wrong goals wastes moves.
  • Using Power-Ups Too Early: Don't use expensive power-ups on easy levels. Save them for when you really need them.
  • Not Planning Chains: Random word finding is inefficient. Plan your chain to maximize letter reuse and objective completion.
  • Giving Up Too Quickly: Sometimes a level seems impossible, but a different approach or a well-timed power-up can solve it. Don't restart immediately—try a new strategy first.

Level-Specific Strategies

Word Count Objectives

When you need to find a certain number of words, focus on shorter words to complete the count quickly. Don't waste time looking for long words unless you also need to collect specific letters.

Letter Collection

If you need specific letters, plan your chain to pass through those letters. Sometimes you can collect multiple required letters in one word if you plan carefully.

Obstacle Clearing

When obstacles block your path, look for words that pass through or around them. Sometimes you can clear obstacles as part of your word chain, killing two birds with one stone.

Key & Chest Levels

Keys are usually hidden or require specific paths to reach. Plan your chain to collect the key first, then work toward the chest. Don't waste moves after getting the key—head straight for the chest.
